Aki is 17 years old, 1,79m tall and gay.
He's a Koi-shark-hybrid, dad is a whitetip reef shark, his mum a japanese Koi fish.
Aki never saw his dad, he doesen't know him. His mum works in a red light districts brothel called the House of Pearls, ot the Pearl for short.
It's called that because the Oiran (whom they call 'mother' in the place) and her partner ('father') call individuals living there their beautiful pearls as if they were treasures.
That's where Aki was born and raised for the first 14 years of his life.

He didn't see his mum every day as soon as he didn't need her care 24/7 anymore, there were other people who took care of him, but whenever she did get to see Aki, she told him she loves him and that he's her beautiful son that she's glad she gave birth to. They did have a private room they lived in together but since mum was working at different times every day, she wasn't always around or resting when Aki was up.

As soon as he was old enough, Aki was sent running errands and help with easy things around the brothel.
Being somewhat poor but pretty and coming from the red light district, Aki was shunned by some of his peers because some parents told them, individuals from there were nasty, immoral and did gross things so they wouldn't go near the place and get into trouble.
This causes a band of rowdier kids to target children from there in regular assaults whenever they spotted one, leading to beating them up and calling them nasty things.
Aki however was one of the few individuals who defended themselves, so he often got into trouble.

The Pearl was willing to raise children the best they could, everyone living there was part of the family, and put to work when old enough so they can earn back what it costs to raise them, which is necessary for the house to survive. (not necessarily serving customers, there's also the kitchen, cleaning the place, repair jobs, medical assistance, doing laundary, running errands or getting work elsewhere to pay off the debt ect.).
However, getting into a lot of trouble causes the house of pearls problems, if they need to pay for broken things or deal with angry parents of hurt children, potentially affecting the name of the house and the amount of people visiting.

Aki realised this but wasn't willing to simply take every assault that came his way, so one day he started asking customers about their jobs and if they would take him in and pay him so he could share what he earned with the house.
He got laughed at and refused by most people while others thought he was joking, but Aki was determined to give back what the Pearl raised him with, he knew they cared for him, there were so many nice individuals in the house and his mom told him he was a good boy every time they got to see each other and his siblings, though not related by blood, were dear to him too, even the Oiran and her partner, whom they called their mother and father, told him he was beautiful had potential if he ever wanted to work with customers when he'd be old enough, and never once was Aki ashamed of where he came from because even though it was an odd place for a child, he felt safe, cared for and loved.

So he kept trying and trying, facing rejection after rejection, getting more and more desperate until he ended up begging on his knees.
He only had to do that once though and the individual he fell on his knees for immediately told him to raise his head and stand tall so he could look into his eyes.
That person was a tiger shark named Curaçao, a general of an underwater citys guard that wasn't too far away.
Said city guard lacked young newcomers and so the general was going places to look for young ones they could train.
He saw potential in the young boy and offered to train and pay him for his services if he was willing to join a subgrpup of the guard that Curaçao personally had founded to assist a place called the Red Lily.

Aki immediately accepted and has now been training for three years. He's now allowed to go on missions and patrols and frequently visits the brothel to bring gifts and a share of his earned money to his family.
He lives in two places now, the house of pearls as well as a bathhouse lead by general Curaçaos master Ezekiel, who retired and decided to say goodbye to battle and duty and instead build a comfy place to relax in.

Aki also discovered that he has special powers when he had to defend himself.
Has powers related to fire/explosions. He can leave flower marks on touch, they ignite/explode when he wants, can set them in advance or make a blast immediately. He can set a condition under which they go off, like being stepped on ect, and is able to shoot the flowers with a thrust of his hands or swing of his tail. He's very skilled at martial arts already due to Curaçaos training and has tail has edges that are sharp like blades.
